Grandparents' Rights

Because emotions run extremely high during a family separation or divorce, the parent experiencing divorce may not be viewing your situation objectively and may not recognize the importance of keeping his or her children in your life.

Cultural differences, beliefs, and even differing methods of upbringing could be factors in viewing grandparents’ involvement with grandchildren and often become problematic in a separation and divorce.  Luckily for me, my Grandmother, Hannah, played a large role in my upbringing, therefore, I have utter respect for elders.

If there are no reasons for you to be left out of the lives of your grandchildren, you should be sharing visits with your grandchildren.  In some situations, you may have been raising your grandchild due to unfortunate family problems, and you may want this to continue.  Because your situation may be unique, call me for a free consultation to discuss your case and the possibility of seeking the assistance of the courts to keep the relationship with your grandchildren thriving for their best interest.
